Lemmanis Village Forest is managed by the Lemmanis Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD Lemmanis) in accordance with Sepakat Jaya Village Regulation Number 2 of 2019 concerning the establishment of the Lemmanis Village Forest Institution. The community-based forest conservation program (based on local wisdom) in Lemmanis Village Forest, Sepakat Jaya Village, is a collaboration between Community Forest Ecosystem Services (CFES) and LPHD Lemmanis, with support from PT. Dharma Satya Nusantara Group (DSNG).
The objectives of the program are to:
- Encourage and support the sustainable, community-based management of high biodiversity value forests in Indonesia to secure long-term climate, livelihood, ecosystem services, and cultural benefits for communities, while also preserving the intrinsic value and importance of forests as habitats for threatened and endangered species.
- Protect the Village Forest area from deforestation and forest degradation.
- Rehabilitate forest areas in open or degraded lands that require replanting.
- Improve the welfare of the Sepakat Jaya community, among other ways through the sustainable use of non-timber forest products.
- Build and strengthen partnership capacities to support sustainable, community-based forest management (grounded in local wisdom) and community-based biodiversity conservation in Indonesia.
