Community Forest Ecosystem Service (CFES), together with the Fauna & Flora Team, carried out the activity “Synchronization of the Rio Kemunyang Village Forest Program” on July 18–19, 2023, in Durian Rambun Village, Muara Siau Subdistrict, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. This activity aimed to align the understanding of the new 2023 management board of LPHD Rio Kemunyang with the MoU for the PES Program cooperation, and to refresh their capacity in managing the Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) project scheme, which rewards efforts in forest protection and conservation. This activity is part of a series of initiatives under the “Project Management Monitoring and Institutional Strengthening for Partner Organizations” program.
The synchronization event in Durian Rambun was attended by various village stakeholders, including the Village Head, Village Government, Village Consultative Body (BPD), LPHD Rio Kemunyang, the KUPS Harapan Baru group, and the youth group. Key outcomes of the synchronization include the establishment of collaboration and strengthened mentorship between the former and new LPHD boards, the development of a strategic communication model for the sustainability of the Village Forest management and PES Program, and the achievement of a shared understanding regarding information, program implementation, and its field application, as well as generating recommendations for future program improvements.
Other activities conducted in Durian Rambun Village included capacity building and role division for the 2023 LPHD Rio Kemunyang patrol team, monitoring of KUPS and the Rehabilitation Team using the SWOT method, and video documentation of activities by the KUPS Harapan Baru group and the Rehabilitation Team.
