The Rio Kemunyang Village Forest (HD) is located in Durian Rambun Village, Muara Siau Subdistrict, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province, obtained a Village Forest Concession (HPHD) on July 7, 2011, through the Ministry of Forestry Decree SK.361/Menhut-11/2011 and Jambi Governor's Decree No.82/Kep. Gub/BPMDPPT.4/2013/31-Jul-13 covering a Village Forest area of 4,484 hectares.
Rio Kemunyang Village Forest (HD) is located in Durian Rambun Village, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. This Village Forest directly borders the Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS). Due to its location bordering TNKS, Rio Kemunyang Village Forest has become an important buffer zone for the conservation area, including several protected and endangered species such as the Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and the Javan Pangolin (Manis javanica).
The management of the Rio Kemunyang Village Forest is carried out by the Rio Kemunyang Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD), which involves the entire village community. This program was initiated by Fauna & Flora International-Indonesia Program (FFI-IP) and supported by CFES through a biodiversity offset scheme from PT. Medco Ratch Power Riau (MRPR).
