Rio Kemunyang Village Forest (HD) is located in Durian Rambun Village, Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. This Village Forest directly borders the Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS). Due to its location bordering TNKS, Rio Kemunyang Village Forest has become an important buffer zone for the conservation area, including several protected and endangered species such as the Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and the Javan Pangolin (Manis javanica).
The management of the Rio Kemunyang Village Forest is carried out by the Rio Kemunyang Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD), which involves the entire village community. This program was initiated by Fauna & Flora International-Indonesia Program (FFI-IP) and supported by CFES through a biodiversity offset scheme from PT. Medco Ratch Power Riau (MRPR).
- Biodiversity protection through forest patrols and monitoring using the Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART),
- Forest rehabilitation, including the production of forestry and fruit tree seedlings (especially protected tree species), planting and maintenance,
- Improving community livelihoods through the development of sustainable agriculture with ecosystem services in Rio Kemunyang Village Forest.
