As an initial step toward implementing remediation and compensation for DSN Group’s concession area, on January 14, 2020, DSN Group, together with CFES, LPHD Manjau, and the village of Laman Satong, held a kick-off meeting aimed at building a shared understanding and perspective on the collaboration between CFES and LPHD to develop social forestry as an effective and sustainable scheme for conservation efforts and improving community livelihoods.
Through this program, local communities will be given the opportunity to manage their forests sustainably. Activities will include promoting environmentally friendly agriculture and implementing various conservation efforts to protect forests from potential threats and degradation.
By directly involving the community in forest management, the program aims to create a balance between economic needs and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, it is expected that this initiative will serve as a model for other regions in terms of forest conservation and community empowerment.
