Bogor – A capacity building training activity was held on 1–3 July 2024 at The Mirah Hotel Bogor. The Training of Trainers (ToT) for CFES Implementing Partners at all program locations was intended to increase the capacity and effectiveness of the implementation and preparation of CFES programs. The purpose of this training was also to ensure that the perception of knowledge and guidelines in the implementation of the program at all CFES locations is the same. Participants attending this training were implementing partners of the Village/Customary Forest programs assisted by CFES.
CFES's efforts in organizational sustainability are carried out by improving work methods through the development of data-based applications and achieving the objectives outlined in CFES’s roadmap, namely Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) as well as the commitment to developing effective and efficient Knowledge Management through applications consisting of SMART, SIKAP, and SIMPUL. Another goal of this training activity is to: (a) increase the capacity of CFES program implementers in the Village/Customary Forests assisted by CFES (in this case, the Implementing Partners), and (b) training in the form of Training of Trainers (ToT) for Village Facilitators so that the knowledge from the training can be implemented and passed on to the assisted LPHD/A.
The training activity was opened by Eka Muliawati as the representative from CFES. "CFES is an organization that is still continuously developing. It is currently designing applications that support program management at the management and site-level program implementation. CFES also applies several tools for the main programs carried out in the field with implementing partners and the community,” she explained. It was further elaborated that this training would learn about SMART to support patrol activities in village or customary forests, SIKAP and SIMPUL to support CFES management.
Next, the introduction of SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) was delivered by Lili Sadikin as the speaker. “SMART is a tool that can be used to plan, document, analyze, and produce reports, so that the data in an area—whether it is potential data, threats, or biodiversity can be managed properly,” said Lili Sadikin. A field practice on the use of SMART patrol was also carried out during this session.
On the last day of the training, participants were scheduled to learn SIKAP and SIMPUL. In the first session, Ryan Anggara was present to provide training on SIKAP. The speaker explained, “SIKAP is a Knowledge Management Information System, SIKAP was created to bridge and support CFES’s goals in implementing the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.” It was further explained that SIKAP is a web-based application designed as a development of a data input system that facilitates archiving, easy data monitoring processes, and provides systematic data storage to efficiently manage information and is expected to support the achievement of standardized and quality business processes.
The next session was delivered by the CFES Knowledge Management team as the speaker for SIMPUL. “SIMPUL is a Publication Management Information System, SIMPUL is a platform to run the publication business process flow in delivering knowledge information to the public. With this platform, CFES can compile relevant knowledge and use the information obtained to make quality decisions and expand the knowledge network. Thus, it can disseminate insights related to ecosystem service payment programs.” With the completion of the SIMPUL training, this marked the end of the capacity building training for implementing partners, which was successfully conducted.
