Messages from Visitors to the Tree of Hope in RT 2023

December 2023

What does a Tree of Hope look like? Imagine a tree whose leaves are neatly hanging pieces of paper, all the same size, with each one containing a unique message and hope. These hopes were created by visitors to the CFES and GAIA booth who wanted to share their dreams with the world at the RT RSPO 2023 exhibition held recently in Jakarta.

Interestingly, many diverse messages and hopes were written on them, including: “more people will become aware of the dangers of climate change,” “promoting more sustainable businesses,” “preserving nature for a better future,” and “well-being for local communities and smallholder farmers.” These messages from visitors essentially express the hope that the world will become greener, and that everyone should take social responsibility to reduce emissions and help preserve nature. Through these hopes, we also express our expectation that the Government of Indonesia will commit to promoting sustainable living practices, which means involving local communities in efforts to mitigate climate change. This includes encouraging education, developing sustainable energy resources, and promoting innovative solutions for a better life.

Beyond serving as a visual communication medium for booth visitors, the Tree of Hope also offers inspiration. By seeing the various creative hopes of others, visitors become inspired to explore and realize their own dreams. Who knows, one day their hopes may come true and be displayed on another Tree of Hope.

So, when visiting the next exhibition booth, don’t miss the opportunity to view and write your own message on the Tree of Hope. Who knows, your creative wish might become the highlight of conversation among other visitors. Remember, dreams don’t always have to be serious—sometimes being funny is the best way to keep us optimistic and cheerful!
